If I could finagle a profit out of 9mm supplies prices, then I knew I could be golden with anything else.Dr. StrangeGunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03349076338197668654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17192903.post-8772422690305918092007-09-25T15:36:00.000-04:002007-09-25T15:36:00.000-04:009mm ammo isn't really one you can make affordably ...9mm ammo isn't really one you can make affordably anyway. I reload, and if I recover all of my brass (or at least leave with as much 9mm as I had when I came in), I can only make 9mm for about 2 cents less a round than buying 100 round Winchester value packs at Walmart.

However, .45 is a completely different beast. Even in comparison to the value packs, I can reload .45 for about half of the cost of a value pack of it. In comparison to the average cost of a 50 round box, it's closer to 1/3 of the cost.

Do you already reload ammo?Laughingdoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788824586959334168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17192903.post-78329881859344950742007-09-22T08:15:00.000-04:002007-09-22T08:15:00.000-04:00In don't trust myself, but no reason for you not t...In don't trust myself, but no reason for you not to trust yourself. "Perfectionist" brand, those. I'd need a type 06 as well.

The "difference" was that I was planning on working up a warm to hot basic 9mm load and lock it in; then I'd run one of every hundred through a chrono and every box would have the average velocity and ranged statistical deviation figure on it, as well as load data... there's be absolutely no guessing as to what you got, except that the brass itself was once-fired.

I could find new brass... then basically I'd *have* commercial ammo, but I couldn't stick to the price levels I wanted.Dr. StrangeGunhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03349076338197668654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17192903.post-6790117238236250402007-09-20T08:44:00.000-04:002007-09-20T08:44:00.000-04:00Nope, if only because I get all the 9mm ammo I nee...Nope, if only because I get all the 9mm ammo I need for free from Uncle. Yes I am a man From uncle (never thought of being a fed like that before, and my agency is pretty generous with ammmo most of the time.

Even if they were not as giving, and I had to buy my own ammo, I don't think I would buy reloads. I just cannot see trusting the guy down the block with making my ammo. I might make my own reloads, but then again probably not. I probably would not trust myself either, therefore I would buy commercially made ammo from known reliable sources, just as i do now with calibers I cannot get at work.

All the best,
Glenn BGlenn Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16677859688487279914noreply@blogger.com
